Casa do Benin

Description

The Casa do Benin is a Brazilian museum located in Pelourinho , in Salvador . The cultural equipment inaugurated in 1988 seeks to reflect the relationship between Bahia and Benin , from where people were trafficked as slaves to this part of Brazil , forced migration that brought cultural impact of exchange between the two places. It has important artistic and cultural heritage of Afro-Brazilians . 

After reform promoted by the City Hall of Salvador, through the Gregório de Mattos Foundation (FGM) and designed by the Italian-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi , it was reopened in December 2014.
