Bargny

Bargny is a city of Senegal, located on the south coast of the peninsula of Cape Verde, about thirty kilometers from Dakar, with which it tends to agglomerate.

 Economic activities

The construction of a mineral port in Bargny is one of the major projects of the Senegalese State. This new infrastructure would be mainly for mineral traffic - those that already exist (e.g. phosphates of Thies and Taiba) or those in project (Matam phosphates or iron mineral and gold from Eastern Senegal...). Petroleum products outside the pitches of Dakar port would be affected also. Noting a real land threat with the extension of the careers of the cement plant SOCOCIM which has swallowed up the whole area of the northern extension of Bargny. the south city is shrinking with a fast advancement of the sea helped by the extraction of marine sand And, finally, the narrowing of the town to benefit the new Diamniadio.
