Description
The art)&(margins museum is an art museum in Brussels. It was founded in 1984 under the name of Art and Marge and the first exhibition was held in 1986. The museum got its present name in 2009.
Location
The museum is located in the Marolles behind St. Peter's Hospital, near the Hallepoortpark, the Ball Court Square and the mural cartoon band in the street of the Capuchins.
Exhibitions
The museum permanently exhibits the work of about twenty artists. In addition, these works are local or from abroad on the occasion of temporary exhibitions. The collection consists of over 2,500 works of art.
The museum presents a section of raw art, also called "outsider art". The margin in the name of the museum refers to both the works and creators. The artists are mostly self-taught; their art does not follow the rules. In addition, artists are mostly unknown and are sometimes isolated in life. Many works come from studios where artists have a disability (psychiatric).
